Big Fun in Our Backyard

If you live near Taylors, you’ve likely seen the Pavilion Recreation Complex—maybe driving by on Scottswood Road or hearing about an event there. What you might not know is the full story: from its early days to its exciting new upgrades, this place is really a community hub where neighbors play, connect, and stay active.

A Quick Look Back

The Pavilion was built in 1990, and since then its use has tripled—today more than 300,000 people visit the facility each year. What began primarily as indoor activity space has grown into a multi-purpose complex under the umbrella of Greenville County Parks, Recreation & Tourism, offering everything from ice skating and tennis to a dog park and community garden plots.

What You Can Do Here

Whether you're looking for a place to burn energy, skate on the ice rink, play tennis, let the kids bounce, or simply enjoy the walking trails, the Pavilion has you covered. Amenities include an indoor ice rink and hockey space, tennis courts, athletic fields, a playground, a dog park, and a community garden. The Pavilion’s variety makes it one of the area’s most family-friendly destinations—there’s truly something for everyone.

Investing in the Future

Over the last few years, the Pavilion has seen major improvements that have kept it a cornerstone of recreation in Taylors. A multi-million-dollar renovation completed in 2020 brought new locker rooms, an expanded lobby, new flooring and ceiling, and additional office space—upgrades that now make the facility one of the most complete recreation centers in the Upstate. Outside, a new paved walking trail replaced the former miniature train tracks, creating a safe, scenic loop for walkers, runners, and families to enjoy year-round. These updates, funded in part by local hospitality taxes and state recreation grants, reflect a clear investment in the Taylors community and the people who call it home.

Integral to Our Community

The Pavilion isn’t just a building—it’s woven into the life of Taylors. From hosting youth hockey leagues and family skate nights to offering garden programs, tennis matches, and dog-park meetups, it brings people together in meaningful ways. Whether you’re a longtime resident or new to town, stopping by the Pavilion means stepping into a space built for connection, wellness, and community spirit. This local gem isn’t just a building—it’s part of what makes Taylors a place where community happens.
